Gibo tops UP mock elections, supporters clash online with Noynoy fans

Presidential aspirant Gilbert

Administration presidential candidate, Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro, recently topped the mock polls conducted by Alpha Sigma fraternity in UP.

One out of four students favored Gibo over his cousin, Sen. Noynoy Aquino, who placed second in the mock elections. Sen. Manny Villar placed a distant third with 577 votes, less than half of what Gibo and Noynoy got. According to the report, Gibo’s well-thought answers in the recent presidential forums, conducted in separate programs by GMA 7 and ABS-CBN, had a significant impact in the outcome of the mock polls.

Personally, Gibo’s exposure in the presidential forums greatly helped his image among the masses and intellectuals to improve. However, more has to be done to remove the stigma due to his association with President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

Supporters in heated argument

In another story, discussions are heating up and getting personal between the camp of Gibo Teodoro and his cousin, Sen. Noynoy Aquino. In a post by Manuel Buencamino on uniffors.com, the author was telling a story about his conversation with this daughter, trying to convince his daughter that Gibo Teodoro is a wise choice. It ends with the thought of “if he [Gibo] sticks with Gloria [Macapagal-Arroyo], then he validates nine years of impunity, corruption, human-rights violations and the destruction of institutions”.

Popular personalities, including Jim Paredes of Apo Hiking Society, has expressed his strong opinions regarding this matter. According to Jim Paredes:

“Tired of these so-called ’smart’ , glibos who do a good talk but whose actions say nothing. Where is his moral compass pointing? A President can hire smart guys to do things. But if the President is a moral cretin, it does not matter how great his/her team is.”

Another poster, Denise, countered the argument with:

“But what really amazes me is the bile and negativity of the yellow camp. So full of vindictive vendetta. That wlll not win you friends and supporters in the long run so if you really want your boy to win, i suggest you all get together, meditate and come out with a positive upbeat attitude…”

Carlos Celdran of popular walk tour Walk This Way, made some interesting and funny comments but his posts mysteriously vanished which the owners of the site denied deleting.
