Giving up on Globe unlimited text and calling

Globe Telecommunications, once the symbol of sophistication and first-class mobile service has just become a piece of crap/dung/fecal matter after they have failed miserably with their so-called unlimited text and calling.

Globe’s 24-hour unlimited text and calling between Globe-to-Globe and Globe-to-Text Mobile (TM), SUPER 150, is supposed to counter Smart Telecom’s unlimited text and calling which is time bound (10pm to 6am). To subscribe to the service, you need to load up at least P151 and sending the text “SUPER150″ to 2824. The difference between SUPER150 and a regular call is you have to use a special prefix to dial a Globe or a TM number.

During the first few weeks, calling was breeze — the call can easily go through with just one dial. However, a month or two into the promo, I started noticing the number of dials needed to make a connection has increased. I usually needed to dial the same number 5 or 6 times before I get a connection. This usually happens during peak hours, between 6pm to 10pm. After 10pm, I only needed to dial twice or thrice. I’m guessing, Globe is controlling the number of simultaneous calls for their SUPER150 service. As more and more people are using the service, because of the bottleneck Globe introduced, calling now becomes increasingly difficult.

While I commend Globe for introducing this service, they should have told their clients about the limitations from the very beginning or at least had the decency to correct their mistake. Instead, they just decided to stop the promo. Apparently, I’m not the only one experiencing this but someone has already blogged about his experience.

Now that Globe’s unlimited text and calling has come to an end, is it time to switch to Smart?
