Nike boss backs Tiger Woods

Amidst controversies presently surrounding Tiger Woods, US sportswear giant Nike and Swiss watch manufacturer Tag Heuer have expressed support for the 14-time golf winner.

“I think he has been really great,” Phil Knight said. “When his career is over, you’ll look back on these indiscretions as a minor blip, but the media is making a big deal out of it right now.” (source: Inquirer.net)

Consultancy company Accenture and Gillette have already removed Tiger Woods from their advertisements. US phone company AT&T has yet to decide on whether to continue their present relationship with the golf champ.

Update [Dec. 19, 2009]: Tag Heuer has announced that they will “downscale” its use of Woods in their US campaigns according to an article from the Associated Press.
